Comedian Sportsman- Judy Chua Kin Hoe
My first thought when told to interview up-and-coming javelin player, Judy Chua Kin Hoe, was that it will be very a very tense interview. However, being able to make me laugh and smile throughout the duration of the interview proved Judy as someone with the humour ‘material’ in him.
Judy started the interview with a simple greeting, “Hi everyone, I’m Judy Chua Kin Hoe and I play professional javelin throwing.” Judy spent five hours training everyday on average and says that he will keep practicing. A skill cannot be mastered overnight and Judy has been playing javelin since nursery. He started from throwing pencils to his incredible javelin-throwing skills. Judy did not like studying and he comes from three neighbourhood schools, namely, Yishun Primary, Yusof Ishak Secondary and Singapore Polytechnic. He was expelled from school when he was caught skipping lessons numerous times. Such a bad record for an international player?
Despite being notorious, Judy has great ambitions and when asked what his ideal age for retirement is, his answer was “40.” Judy was also asked whether he played javelin for the money. He answered, “Yeah you’re right! Who doesn’t want to make money?”
Judy was asked about his childhood and he said that he was from the same kampong as Yio Chu Kang Prime Minister, Christopher Tan. Surprisingly, Judy’s greatest inspiration was from his kampong neighbour’s mango tree. He started sharing a short story on his mischievous childhood. “When I was young, I used to climb my neighbour’s mango tree and pluck mangoes. I threw them and began to like the ‘sport’ and it became my hobby. I didn’t realize that I had planted the seed of my current passion and occupations since I was so young.”
The sportsman was asked about his diet. Judy said that he was not very keen to eat too much as he will grow fat and it will spoil his good image. It’s hard to imagine the slim sportsman with a plump figure. Keeping in good shape will ensure his top form when he starts participating in competitions.
The interview left the interviewer with many queries and the sportsman proves to be a young man with a humorous yet mysterious air around him. The young and talented player, Judy, will be making his debut at the coming South-east Asia Games (SEA) and supporters please keep a look-out for his appearance!

A Shining New Star!
A new shining star has appeared in the wide entertainment world. This star, with a resume of actress-singer-stuntman, is Elena. The Singaporean was spotted recently by a Director when she attended JJ Lin’s concert. The actress claims that she was so highly regarded because she knew JJ Lin. Elena has only been in the entertainment circle for a year and she is already very self-conscious of her image and has a past-time of looking at the mirror. When asked about her image, Elena candidly replied, “I’ve to take good care of my image as a good image gets respect.”
Elena is one actress who doesn’t hide her age when she was asked of her age. Her answer was straight-forward. “I used to tell people I’m 21 but I’m 26 already.” Elena is very proud of the fact that she has little looks and she is having wonderful time acting in comedies. “Acting in comedies gives me a chance to interact with people.” Though she has only started acting for one year. Elena is already on a much-sought after ‘A-list’ actress and often takes on the lead role on TV. When asked about her most unforgettable experience in acting, the young actress replied, “It was acting in Titanic 2 as a stuntman.” In the blockbuster, the brave actress had to endure injuries and for a lady, it was no mean feat.
Despite being a busy actress, Elena always managed to find time off her busy schedule to read and often goes out to relax. Elena reads a wide range of books and relaxations always help her to de-stress. The most inevitable question was on her love-life. The blushing actress-singer-stuntman, replied shortly, “As I’ve just started my new career, I only want to concentrate on it so currently I’ve got no boyfriend.”
The last question for Elena was whether the aspiring newcomer ‘prefers singing, acting or being a stuntman?’ Elena pointed out that being a stuntman, “needs to endure bruises and injuries” so she was not really keen to further her career as a stuntman. Her pick was being a singer as singing has been her passion since young.
The interview with Elena was smooth and comfortable and the actress-singer-stuntman did not put on any airs. Do be alert for the upcoming newbie’s new album and comedies!
